As Jacob was running away from his brother Esau, he halted at Luz, and decided to abide there for the night. Little did he know that his grandfather Abraham had built an altar at the spot, and entered into covenants with the God of heaven. As he laid there all night, he did some strange, illogical and unreasonable things. He took a stone and made it his pillow, and when he slept, he saw a ladder that its top reached into heaven, and angels were ascending and descending on it while the Lord stood at the top of it (Genesis 12:8; Genesis 28:11, 13).

What Jacob did at Luz (Bethel) was propelled by the covenants Abraham had entered into with God when he erected an altar. Unknown to Jacob, he had entered into a forcefield of God’s presence and intense angelic traffic because God is a keeper of covenant (Nehemiah 1:5; Psalm 105:8-11; Deuteronomy 7:9).

Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
It is instructive to note that the angels were ascending and descending, not descending and ascending. This is because what was propelling their movement was at the spot where Jacob laid. And at the top of the ladder was the Lord, which indicates that the movement of the angelic beings was under the government and Lordship of Jesus Christ (Colossians 1:15-19).

As the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ draws closer, there will be heightened angelic traffic from the heavenly realms to the earthly realm under the Lordship of Jesus which will bring about the reality of heaven and angelic presence and manifestations to the earth realm for God’s beloved saints that fear Him and the Church (Psalm 37:4; Hebrews 12:22-23).

Conversely, the account at the tower of Babel, shows the evil one; Satan who is a master counterfeiter who tries to counterfeit every thing that God does. As he gives access to the inhabitants at the tower into the spirit realm but not under the Lordship of Jesus (Genesis 11:4). The aftermath was the beginning of the Babel civilization pioneered by Nimrod which promoted all manner perversion of God’s law, order, and the civilization will culminate into Babylon at the end of the age (Revelation 17:1-5).

It is pertinent for us to build our discernment, so that we are able to discern the supernatural activities around us, and who it is that opens the portal and grants us access into the realm of the supernatural in these perilous times. This is because there will be heightened traffic of both angelic beings from God, and demonic beings from the devil. Any access into the spirit realm that’s not under the Lordship of Jesus is from the evil and must be rejected because it will open you up to the realm of the demonic supernatural and their evil civilization.
May the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth as we live through these perilous times and its attendant challenges in Jesus name.
